Just got Sidekick 2008 and it has a few issues. Help?

Just got the Sidekick 2008 and there are a few things I cant figure out.



1. When I first turn it on, its goes to the main menu for a second then a new screen pops up. It says %26quot;Waiting to register for data services. A welcome screen will appear within 24 hours after purchase. If it does not, power your device off, then on. To bypass this screen, press (the button in the top left corner, with the three horizontal lines) and select 'Phone and Text'. You will be prompted to register later.%26quot;



So I bypass the screen, but what is it trying to register? This happens every time I turn my phone on.



2. Whenever I get a text, my phone does not ring or vibrate. I went to the settings and set a ringtone under %26quot;New message alert%26quot;, didnt work. Then I went to settings%26gt;sound profiles%26gt;repeat pending alerts and reminders and set a ringtone, still no ring. WHat do I do?



3. In my inbox and sent messages folders, it doesnt say the contacts name, only their number. I made sure the numbers were correct, which they all are. Then I tried adding the number into the adress book again, still didnt work. I turn my phone off and back on, no change. How do i fix this?

Sidekick id how to?

i just got a sidekick id from a friend so i dont have an owner's manual, so bare with me.



how do you...

1) select a ringtone for when everyone calls

2) turn the flip sound off or change the tune( you know, when you make the screen flip up and down it makes a noise)

3)put pics on my phone

For the ringtone; scroll to %26quot;phone%26quot;, hit menu (top left button w/ 3 lines), then settings, then click general, select your ringtone, hit menu again then click done.



Turn the flip sound off: press the bottom left button a few times til you're at the main menu. Then hit the menu button, then select settings, then scroll to sound profiles, then click edit, then turn down the system sounds.



You can text pics to yourself but that's it... sorry.

Is there a way to change the default ring for like, random incoming calls, on a Tmobile sidekick 3? right now, its the default tmobile jingle, but I would like to change that so something that i bought. I know how to change each induvidual contacts ringtone, but is it possible to change the default?

2.) u need a memory card to add music and pictures. the memory card is kinda like the %26quot;hard drive%26quot; of ur sidekick. music cant be saved on the internal drive of ur fone. ya know?



3.) u should receive pictures with sound, i have a LX and my pic messages work fine. try sending a pic to urself and see if u get it. and u do need to have a text message plan or the sidekick data plan to receive pics. and if u cant receive pics dat u sent to urself, then its best to call Customer Care for help: 1-800-937-8997 or dial 611 from ur fone.(i would recommend calling from another fone dan ur slide, like say a house phone)



4.) t-mobile USA sidekick users dont have the option to record a ringtone and use it as a ringtone, t-mobile blocked dat featured, idk why, its dumb, all though other sidekick users around the world have that option but oh well.

The Sidekick does not use T-Zones for the internet or for buying ringtones or games. instead, it uses a %26quot;Sidekick Unlimited%26quot; Add-on which costs 19.99 which gives you unlimited SMS, MMS, IM, Web browsing, email, and the download catalogue (better than T-Zones) for rintones, games, and applications. if you are prepaid, then it's $1 per day.

2. Ringtones will NOT transfer, it's not compatible. You cannot save pictures to a SIM card either, but you will be able to use the same SIM card in the Sidekick as long as it's a T-Mobile SIM card.

to take a picture, from the jump/home screen, click the right bumper on the top right of the sidekick (this will take you to the camera). click the same bumper again to take a picture.



to change the ringtone, go to the phone, click the menu button-%26gt; settings-%26gt; general, then go down to incoming call ringtones. you can always download more from the catalog.



to go on the internet, go to the blue globe icon on the jump/home screen that says web browser. unless you have the sidekick plan or a plan that includes internet, there is a high charge for using the web browser.



going on aim is free, but each IM sent/received counts as a text message.

Now another menu, called edit details will come up on the screen, scroll down to ringtone and select it and you will get a menu with 3 options: rings, songs, and imported. The ringtones you buy from the download catalog will be in the imported menu. The default ringtones on the sidekick suck, so i suggest buying some from the catalog which requires the sidekick unlimited plan. The thing i hate about the sidekick is that you cannot make your own custom ringers, you have to buy them from the download catalog for $2.49 each, sucks. I hope this was helpful.

In order for you to be able to change the ringer on your sidekick for all incoming calls: press MENU then select Settings %26gt; General. The Settings screen opens, the third box is listed as Incoming phone call ring and there is a list of the ringtones. Scroll to the one you downloaded and then press the done key -- located on the botton right of your sidekick (has an arrow)



To change the alert for Text Messages, follow the steps below:





1. From the Browse Messages screen, press MENU then select Settings. The Settings screen appears.



2. In the second group box, you can set your New message alert. Select the pop-up menu to open it and see all the possible ringtone categories from which you can select.



3. If you do not want to be notified of a new incoming message, select None.



4. If you do want to be notified of a new message, then select from one of the possible ringtone categories. To view the songs for a particular category, press the TRACKBALL with the category highlighted and the submenu opens. To dismiss any of the submenus, press DONE . To preview a song, keep the song highlighted for a few moments (make sure you haven't silenced your device).



Note that the category/song currently in effect is highlighted.



5. To select one of the songs for your ringtone, press the TRACKBALL/Track wheel when the song is highlighted.



6. Press DONE to save your settings.

3. Scroll to and select Settings.

4. Select General.

5. Scroll to and select the Incoming phone call ring field.

6. Select the tone category.

7. Scroll to and select the tone.

8. To save, press the Done key.

But the problem is that on my sidekick 3 when i put setting it doesn't come up GENERAL and it doesnt have the Incoming phone. So, I dont know how to change the ringtone.
